Bayer acquired Roche's OTC business in 2005 and completed its acquisition of Merck's global health consumer products business in October 2014. In addition to over-the-counter drug plants in Shanghai, Qidong and Kunming, in January 2016, Bayer announced the official opening of its new Chinese and western medicine factory in Majinpu, Yunnan.
